Your Employees May Not Want to Work From Home It seems as if COVID-19 is becoming endemic, similar to the flu. However, many employees still don't want to go back to the office. Most workers that can work from home continue to work from home either all or at least most of the time. Fewer workers are working from home than did in October of 2020. However, there continue to be a lot more people working from home than there were before the pandemic started. But, as Omicron variant cases decline, many companies are requesting that their workers return to the office. This is causing a disagreement between these companies and their remote workers. Because of this, businesses may need to do a bit of work to figure out how to get their employees back to the office without upsetting them too much. Getting people back to work is necessary for some businesses because remote work is not a good choice for some types of businesses. One way some businesses have tried to make the transition back to work more tolerable for people is to adopt a hybrid arrangement. Some companies will have workers come in for three days of the week and work at home for two days of the week. Companies will vary in how many days are remote or in-person and which days depending on their needs. Another way some companies are handling bringing people back to the office is to have certain positions work in the office, and others work remotely. However, this can upset the people that are required to work in the office. Employers may also choose to have all workers return to the office but allow more flexible hours. No matter what kind of in-office schedule a company is planning, it is essential to keep workers informed. Workers should also be given time to provide their input on the situation. It could be difficult to get employees to come back to the office at first. Although companies will probably find that some workers want to come back to the office. But, once enough of the employees return to the office, it's likely a number of the remaining remote employees will want to come back to the office as well. Workers will probably start to feel that they are missing out on something if they are not in the office. Businesses tend to struggle to get employees back until they get approximately 40% of their workers back in the office. However, after this point, it usually gets a lot easier.
